I would like to do as the title says - remove armor from the game by not using it on my mercs and not having the enemy have it. How would I do this?

Remove the armor as a stat or as an item?
If you want to remove it as a stat, go though clothings.txt and replace all the "Armor X" (where X is a number) with "Armor 0" or remove them altogether. If you want to remove all the ballistic vests, you need to check clothings.txt for the coresponding item IDs and then remove all the AddItem <itemID> lines from characters.txt.

Its not a fine art to delete the Item ID´s. Because the items are still in Containers and inventory's. Dont know it for BIA but in some engines this can make problems.

If you want to delete items in Inventory´s , Delete them in the Inventory's. (Charakters.txt)

If you remove the AddItem lines altogether, the vests won't show up.
If you change the Armor lines to Armor 0, the vests will show up but have no effect on armor.

No idea what's the problem, but better save yourself work and only change the armor values of helmets, vests and pants in clothings.txt to 0 or whatever you desire.
